Let us show you Japanese New Year Decorations.

A SACRED STRAW FESTOON will be decorated on the front door of houses.

ROUND RICE CAKES offered to the gods at New Years’ time will be placed at an alcove, entrance, a household Shinto alter or Buddhist one. In addition, in old days, smaller round rice cakes used to be placed in a kitchen where the gods of fire and water save, bedroom where the god of storage saves and so on.

KADOMATSU, or New Year’s decorative pine branches used be decorated at the gate of houses. Pine trees are said to be a symbol of longevity and prosperity.
